The Art of Ralph Breaks the Internet:   is an AWESOME. Probably one of the best art books due to how many character designs and pre-production on all of the characters they show. Jessica Julius really knows how to make an art of book. She uses limited text and fills her pages with as much art as possible, there is hardly any wasted space. The one major thing that she does that I like is that she finds multiple drawings of the characters before the design is finalized and we get to see a lot of the artists explore each character and see what might have been.  Literally some of the characters have multiple pages with these exploitative drawings. For example there are 5 pages devoted to the character Yesss and with in those pages you have up to 55 character design drawings. With a total of 168 pages, (8 more than the last Wreck it Ralph art book) it has about 70 pages with character designs and rough drawings of the characters. The Art of Incredibles 2   Has a lot more Character Design than the previous art of the Incredibles from the first fil.  With 168 pages I would say about  41 pages with character designs. But I wish they would have put more.  It then has about 22 pages of storyboards, and the rest is of pre-visual artwork like props, buildings, backrounds and other throwaway art that I wonder why they even show. There are many character designs done by Matt Nolte, who I consider one of the best artist out there in the animation industry.  There is also some art from Tony Fucile, and Deanna Marsigliese. So overall I am pretty happy to see a lot of great artwork, but it seems like they withheld so much more character designs that they could have shown. (I'm sorry but I am not to interested in all of the pictures of props and building layouts which is most of the book). DESPICABLE ME 3  is out on 4K, Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital Download. I receive a review copy of this AWESOME show in 4K, and what I saw was complete fun and enjoyment.  I really love all of these characters in this show, from Gru and family to the villain Balthazar Bratt who was stuck in the 80's. all of these characters where fleshed out and lovable. The company Illumination is just kicking some butt when it comes to making great animated films.  I have to say the detail that you can see in these Hi- Rez copies on 4K and Blu-Ray are amazing. If you look closely you can even see the individual threads on their clothes. I sure do hope they continue making more of these Despicable Me movies, because we love them at our house.  I also really liked the extra animated short (Mini-Movie): The Secret Life of Kyle... The Art of Coco   has a whole mix of artwork for both living and the dead characters from the film.  With 162 pages I would say about 1/3 is filled with some great character design.  I like that there is hardly any text, but loads of artwork.  This book introduced me to some great artist that I would like to point out, and I will now put them on my watch list of artists to follow, and hopefully we will see more of their work in the future too.  They are - Daniel Arriaga,  Zaruhi Galstyan, and Manny Hernandez.  There is also some wonderful art scattered throughout from Tony Fucile (an artist /animator that was came over with Brad Bird), I wish they would show more of his work, but maybe he is hard working on the new Incredibles 2, who knows maybe theuy will show more work in the next Art Of Book. The Art of Aardman is a really fun book that I am really happy to review. It has tons of production artwork and loads of behind the scenes sculptures and set pieces that have tons of character and detail. My favorite chapter is "An eye for every detail", which shows the amazing detail they put into every environment. Each prop and accessories tells a story and the amount or research they do to make those things have so much character and believability is astounding and makes the films have much more depth and enhances the story telling. The only thing I wish is that it had a lot more pages because I wanted more.  I do understand that not to long ago the Aardman Studios actually burned down so maybe what we have here in this book is all that was left to show, who knows...  Here's hoping they make an " Art of Early Man" Aardman's next stop motion film due out next year which look awesome. I give the books an awesome 4.7 out of 5

The Art of Cars 3 is big on storyboards and light on character designs, which is to be expected due to most of the characters being fleshed out except a few new characters that appear in the show.  This book is great for those who are into storyboarding and seeing a behind look at how much work goes into it.  They even take time to discuss different camera angles and staging that should be usedin their storyboards. All in all I was a bit disappointed in this book because of the lack of artwork.  It felt like they were running out of  the type of artwork that I love to see. I give the books a fun 2.5 out of 5

The Art of Moana has lots of great, from some well know artists. I really enjoy this book because it has lots of designs and expression sheets of most of the main characters. Out 0f the 160 pages there are a good 54 pages of hand drawn character designs from some of my favorite artists like Borja Montoro, Bill Schwab, Jin Kim, Bobby Pontillas, and many more.  The rest of the pages have mostly layouts and pre-production artwork for the environment and props as well as a few pages of storyboards.  Overall I am pretty happy with this book. I give the books a fun 4.5 out of 5

Designing with Pixar: 45 Activities to Create Your Own Characters, Worlds, and Stories other than it having one of the longest titles of a book I have reviewed, it is a perfect book for any child wanting to become a character designer.  It leads the artist by the hand with fun activities using color, shapes, characters,worlds, and your own stories. It gives examples of the how Pixar uses these subjects to create unforgettable characters.  It has many pictures to inspire artist before it asks youexplore their own imagination in creating characters based on the subject matter that is being discussed in each chapter. I give the books a fun 4.3 out of 5

  Sketchtravel is an awesome book I have to say.  So many of my favorite artists have created some amazing pieces of work for this one time book.  Each artist was free to do whatever they liked, which made each page a fun surprise and very unique subjects and very different art styles.  Here are just a few of the71 artist that contributed to this really neat book. The Art of Planes   has a ton of great pictures, from concept to final designs.  I was not a big fan of the movie, but this book is well worth the price especially if you like planes and even some automobiles as well.  Although most of the book has lots of background paintings and fully rendered digital paintings of scenes from the film, it really is worth the price.  I give it a good 4 out of 5

The Art of Sanjay's Super Team is a fantastic art of book, especially when you consider it's the art book for a Pixar short that played before The Good Dinosaur. It's out of the ordinary to devote an art of book to a short, but I am so happy they did.  This book has many great pictures and a lot of character designs in its 130 pages. What's awesome too, is that it is only   $15.35 at Amazon right now.  Well worth the price in my opinion.  I give it 4.6 out of 5 Below is a fun video about the making of The Art of Sanjay's Super Team

With The Art of Finding Dory I should have realized that most of that underwater world was fleshed out and created from the first film Finding Nemo.  So when it comes to character designs, there is about 20 pages out of 176.  With in those pages they show the designs of the new characters and don't double dip from the previous art book The Art of  Finding Nemo which is a good thing.  The main focus however is on set design and storyboards.  So it's a great book if you love that kind of stuff.  I am surprised at the decisions these latest Art of books have made to have such a big focus on set design and background layout.  Gone are the days where half or most of the book has butt loads of character designs and pre-final designs. The Art of Big Hero 6 is an awesome book. This book is chuck full of character designs.  out of 160 pages, 60 pages are dedicated to character design.  If you are a fan of Jin Kim, Shiyoon Kim, and Lorelay Bove like me, you will love this book.  I really like how they went through to talk about the overall look and feel of each character.  I also love that they showed tons of designs that were not used both heroes and villains.  I this to me is the best part because I like to see the artists exploring and trying new things before they become "Disneyfied".  For example on page 142 they show the designs of some female villains called the Fujitas.  It's three girls who look like Geisha on roller skates while chewing on razor blades,  and having a Medieval Spiked Battle Flail a bat with nails coming out of it for weapons.  Here's hoping that they will use those Fujitas for the next Big Hero 6 film.  But for some reason I don't see that hap...
